Blisworth tunnel will be closed to traffic from 07:30, possibly until 09:00 on Wednesday 9th August for the passage of a widebeam boat travelling from Blisworth to Stoke Bruerne.

Boats may enter the tunnel if directed to do so by a Trust representative at the tunnel portal or after 08:00 if no representative is present. 

Fradley CSF including Elsan

Update on 09/08/2023:

All the facilities are back open again, apologies for any inconvenience this caused.

Update on 08/08/2023:

Unfortunately, the Elsan and Toilets appear not to be clearing so there would appear to be an additional problem which we will need to get further contractor attendance on.

The whole CSF is closed again until this is resolved.

Update on 08/08/2023:

There is a tanker on site now removing waste so all facilities have been reopened.

ADVICE (4pm Monday 7 August 2023 until further notice)

The whole CSF facility including the Elsan is closed.

The cesspit is about to overflow so we have no choice but to close facilities.

We are hoping to reopen again tomorrow once some of the cesspit has been emptied and will update once this is the case.

Update on 07/08/2023:

Repairs are now complete, navigation is open. 

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7pm Saturday 5 August 2023 until further notice)

A fault has developed with the bridge, contractors will be attending site Sun AM to undertake repairs.

This notice will be updated as soon as repairs are completed.

Update on 08/08/2023:

We’re pleased to advise our Reactive Response team worked through the night and were able to put a temporary fix in place, so navigation is now open. The hole will be dealt with at a later date.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10am Sunday 6 August 2023 until further notice)

Potential canal breach has meant we have had to close navigation to investigate the issue. Further update will be made by Wednesday 9th Aug 2023 

Marsden Flight

Update on 08/08/2023:

The Marsden Flight has been closely monitored by the local team.

The water levels have recovered and we have sufficient water to operate the Marsden flight.

The Marsden flight has reopened for passage.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Sunday 6 August until 1pm Monday 7 August 2023)

Due to a lack of water the Marsden flight will remain closed until further notice.

Torksey Flood Gate
Lock 1, Torksey Lock

Update on 07/08/2023:

Water levels have started to come down and the Environment Agency have opened Torksey Flood Gates. Boaters can now travel along the navigation.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Sunday 6 August 2023 until further notice)

The Environment Agency have closed Torksey Flood Gates.  Boaters will not be able to get through Torksey Lock until further notice.

Bridge 39, High Bridge

RESTRICTION (10am Sunday 6 August 2023 until further notice)

A tree has fallen restricting navigation at Bridge 39 on the Shropshire Union Canal.

Please take care if passing.

Update on 08/08/2023:

Unfortunately there has been a delay with the arrival of the parts, which are now expected to arrive tomorrow morning. We are therefore hoping to have the parts fitted and navigation open tomorrow around 10am (09/08/23) 

Update on 07/08/2023:

Please be advised the local team will be going out at 3pm today (07/08/23) and 8am tomorrow (08/08/23) to manually let any waiting boats through.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11am Monday 7 August until 11am Tuesday 8 August 2023)

Shirley Drawbridge is currently inoperable due to the barrier being faulty.

Contractors will be arriving on site at 11am tomorrow to replace the barrier, so navigation should be back open again then.

Braunston tunnel will be closed to traffic from 07:30, possibly until 09:30 on Tuesday 8th August for the passage of a wide-beam boat, travelling from Welton to Braunston.

Boats may enter the tunnel if directed to do so by a Trust representative at the tunnel portal or after 08:30 if no representative is present.

Repairs
Bridge 22, Cooper Bridge

RESTRICTION (8am Tuesday 8 August until 7pm Friday 11 August 2023)

Third party contractors will be undertaking repairs to the damaged parapet from the roadside. 

Would skippers of all craft slow down on approach.

Skippers and towpath users be prepared to stop if directed by banksman – Delays of up to 15 minutes may occur.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (6.15pm Saturday 5 August 2023 until further notice)

Please be aware that the navigation is currently closed between Bank Dole and Beal Lock on the River Aire following a police incident.

Cooper Bridge Visitor Moorings

TOWPATH CLOSURE (9.30pm Friday 4 August until 12noon Saturday 5 August 2023)

Trees have fallen across the towpath at Cooper Bridge, please do not use the towpath.  The trees have been reported and contractors will attend in the morning.  Update to follow once reopened.
