White Rose Head 2023 – Rowing Event EVENT (8.30am-4pm Saturday 16 December 2023) A rowing event organised by University of York Boat Club is taking place on Saturday 16th December. There will be a navigation restriction while the event is occurring from A64 Road Bridge to Scarborough Rail Bridge from 08:30am to 4:00pm Can skippers of all crafts, please slow down and approach the area with caution. Please follow the advice of safety boats that will be on the water and marshals along the course. Llanthony pump out ADVICE (2pm Friday 15 December 2023 until further notice) Please be advised that the pump out at Llanthony Bridge is currently out of order. Our engineers have been notified and will be attending as soon as possible to resolve the problem. Tinsley Flight – Lock 4, Sluice Failed A temporary repair has been made with one sluice working on the top and bottom. Navigation is now open and bookings can be made as usual: Passage through the Tinsley flight of locks must be booked at least 24 hours in advance by calling the customer service team on 0303 040 4040 Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm Lock Keepers will advise customers what time the last passage will be as it takes approximately 4 hours to navigate the flight. Our summer hours are 1st April until 30th September Monday – Sunday 8am until 5 pm Our winter hours are 1st October until 31st March Monday – Sunday 8am until 4pm Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day The Tinsley Flight passage starts at Holmes Lock. Customers who have not booked passage will not be able to progress past Holmes Lock. We advise customers to moor at Eastwood or Iccles Lock. Please be advised that due to limited resource there will be no passage through Kings lock and Blue Bank Lock on 27th December. Assisted passage will resume on 3rd January. The assisted passage will be available at 12pm on each planned Wednesday for up to four boats, pre-booking is required. A member of staff will embark with each boat as a pilot for the passage. Please follow any instructions as they assist you through the pound and locks. To book your passage please contact [email protected] or call on 0303 0404 4040 (option 2 then 5). We would be grateful if any bookings for a Wednesday could be made with us by 3:30pm on the Tuesday. Please do not approach either lock until after your booking has been confirmed. The towpath remains closed. We will update this notice on the 31st January or as soon as we have further information. Romney reach – Windsor Railway Bridge Update on 15/12/2023: Windsor Railway Bridge repairs have now been completed. There is no restriction to the channel under the bridge. Third party works ADVICE (10.15am Friday 15 December 2023 until further notice) Third party contractors are carrying out works above Worksop Town Lock, using scaffolding. Slow down on approach and take any instruction from site staff. Please refrain from using the scaffold poles to tie ropes to and use the bollards in situ. Starts At: Lock 2, Shardlow Lock Water levels have started to come down and the Environment Agency have now opened the flood gates at Shardlow. We have opened both Shardlow Lock and Derwent Mouth Lock, which means boaters can proceed as normal along this section. Landslide Please be advised the towpath along this section remains closed until further notice while we liaise with the landowner and come up with a plan of action. Bridge 73, Hillmorton Wharf, Rugby ADVICE (8am-6pm Friday 15 December 2023) Please be advised there will be an inspection of the offside waterway wall adjacent Bridge 73, Crick Rd Bridge. Local signage and banksmen will be available to advise when onward travel will be possible, but short delays should be expected. Navigation Resumed We are pleased to advise navigation has resumed on the Weaver Navigation. Starts At: Lock 12, Alrewas Lock We’re pleased to advise the water levels are back to normal and navigation is open again. St Neots Priory Centre NGR: TL 18049 60332 ADVICE (Thursday 14 December 2023 until rescinded) Please be aware of a large tree limb in the river at St Neots (approx location NGR: TL 18049 60332) which we will look to remove as soon as it safe and practicable to do so but in the meantime and once Strong Stream Conditions have been lifted if navigating in this area please proceed with caution. Starts At: Bridge 36 The tree has been cleared. Navigation open. Lock 2, New Marton Locks We’re pleased to advise the obstruction has been cleared and navigation is open again.
