We are pleased to advise the towpath between Lock 1 West and Lock 2 West on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has now reopened.

Please be advised that the pump out at Tyle Mill has failed and is currently inoperable.

Contractors have been informed and we will update this notice when the repair has been completed.

Approx 100m Downstream of Clifford Hill Lock

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Tuesday 9 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be aware there is a fallen tree blocking the navigation approx. 100m downstream of Clifford Hill lock.
Navigation is not possible; therefore, this area will be closed until further notice

Br.23 Worcester Bridge

Update on 09/01/2024:

Due to the ongoing build up of floating debris at Worcester Bridge (No. 23) please see below advice.

When navigating downstream please use the far left arch, and when navigating upstream, use the far right arch.

Up Stream Winding Hole: above lock 1
Down Stream Winding Hole: below lock 3

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.15pm Saturday 6 January 2024 until further notice)

The navigation between lock 1 and lock 3 spon lane is closed due to the bottom end balance beam at lock 1 failing. We are taking every step to fix the problem an updated will be provided by 10/01/2024.

Lock 14, Newark Nether Lock

Update on 08/01/2024:

The restriction to Nether Lock has been cleared. Boaters will be able to operate the lock, once we are out of flood. Please keep checking our website for flood updates.

STRONG STREAM RECEDED.

Navigation status normal (green) below Aynho Weir Lock 33 to above Bakers Lock 40.

Strong stream warning still in place at the following locations:

Nell Bridge Lock 32 to Aynho Weir Lock 33

Bakers Lock40 to Shipton Lock 41

Separate notices are posted for these locks and will be updated as the strong stream status changes.

Below Lock 44 – Belgrave Lock

ADVICE (Monday 8 January until Friday 12 January 2024)

Police Divers will be carrying out various dives below Belgrave Lock on the River Soar all week.  

Members of the public are asked to be mindful while these dives take place and boaters are asked to proceed with caution if the navigation comes out of flood.  

Signs and police officers will be on site for the duration, to advise accordingly.

Update on 08/01/2024:

We are pleased to advise Tower Wharf Customer Service Facilities on the Shropshire Union Canal are back open following a successful repair to the leak.
