Gunthorpe Lock low-side approach moorings Due to the recent flooding, the low-side lock approach moorings at Gunthorpe Lock remain out of use. When operating the lock, boaters are asked to moor on the moorings furthest away from the lock and to proceed with care A crane boat is required to carry out the works and we are waiting on both availability and safe water levels to move the craft. We will update this notice by the 5th February or as soon as we have further information. Newark Basin Flood Gates Water levels have started to come down and we have been able to open Newark Flood Gates. Boaters can now proceed as normal. Hambleden Lock LOCK CLOSURE (Monday 15 January until 22 March 2024) Upgrading upstream and downstream lock gate sluices. Isleham Lock Update on 15/01/2024: This is rescinded as the issue has been resolved and the lock has reopened. Water levels NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9.15am Monday 15 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised that the section between Gloucester Lock to Upper Lode Lock is currently designated: Red – Do not proceed. CAUTION STRONG STREAM We advise users of all boats not to navigate because the strong flows make it difficult and dangerous (Locks may be closed) Fradley Customer Service Facility All facilities are now back open. Apologies the whole facility is now closed as we have had to isolate the water on site, this includes the Elsan. ADVICE (9.15am Monday 15 January 2024 until further notice) The gents toilet and disabled toilet are currently out of order please use other toilets on site. Our contractors have been contacted. Water levels ADVICE (9.15am Monday 15 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised that river levels between Lock 9 Lincomb & Lock 6 Diglis Lock are currently designated: Yellow (falling) PROCEED WITH CAUTION Please take extra care when navigating the river and be aware of the risk of floating debris. Pump Out, Tyle Mill Below Lock ADVICE (9.45am Monday 15 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised that due to an ingress of river water in to the septic tank at Tyle Mill the site has become unusable. We are working urgently with our contractors to resolve this situation and we will update this notice when the repairs have been completed. Starts At: Lock 13, Anchor Pit Flood Lock All flood gates and locks are now open Please consult the Strong Stream Warning boards and markers at flood locks/gates before venturing into the river sections of the navigation. Leighton Buzzard Winter Series Event EVENT (10am-2.30pm Sunday 14 January 2024) A canoe/kayak event, organised by Leighton Buzzard Canoe Club. All paddlers will receive a safety briefing and wear buoyancy aids. Running Event Morton – Thorlby EVENT (7.30am-3.30pm Sunday 14 January 2024) A running event will be taking place along the towpath, organised by ‘It’s Grim Up North Running’. Other towpath users will be prioritised and the course will be stewarded. Intersection of: Lock 9, Castleford Junction Lock to Lock 11, Ferrybridge Flood Lock on Aire & Calder Navigation Main Line and All flood locks and gates are now open Please check the Strong Stream Warning board and marker at each flood lock before entering the river section of navigation. Cranfleet Flood Gates Water levels have started to come down and Cranfleet Flood Gates have been opened. Boaters can now proceed as normal. Starts At: Lock 38 – Kings Lock Assisted passage has resumed between Kings Lock and Blue Bank Lock. The assisted passage will be available at 12pm on each planned Wednesday for up to four boats, pre-booking is required. A member of staff will embark each boat as a pilot for the passage. Please follow any instructions as they assist you through the pound and locks. To book your passage please contact [email protected] or call on 0303 0404 4040 (option 2 then 5). We would be grateful if any bookings for a Wednesday could be made with us by 1pm on the Tuesday so we can plan the required resource to assist you. Please do not approach either lock until after your booking has been confirmed. The towpath remains closed. We will update this notice by the 31st March 2024 or as soon as we have further information.
