Update on 17/01/2024:

Re the Navigation Closure Notice issued on September 26, 2023 regarding the Winter Works Programme for the river Great Ouse, this is now rescinded as the works have been cancelled due to recent bad weather and prolonged Strong Stream conditions.

The pump out is now available for use again.

Lock 58 – Ratcliffe Lock

Update on 17/01/2024:

These trees have now been removed and the towpath is clear.

Opposite Redhill Marina – River Soar

Update on 16/01/2024:

The sunken boat obstructing the navigation opposite Redhill marina on the River Soar is now completely submerged and no longer visible.

It is situated opposite the polythene tunnel at the marina so please proceed with caution along this section of navigation.

We will update this notice by 28th February or as soon as we have more information.

Moss Lane Services

Update on 16/01/2024:

Please be advised the Pump Out station at Moss Lane Customer Service Facilities remains out of use due to internal damage to the pump.

Our contractors have received the necessary parts to repair the internal damage and now planning a return visit to undertake the works. 

A further update will be provided Tuesday 23 January.

Update on 16/01/2024:

Work has progressed well at Lock 62 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, however, whilst on site our local team have identified another minor repair which is now being completed, due to the current weather conditions the materials used for the repair will take longer to cure, adding two additional days to the planned repair works.

We’re sorry for the disruption this short extension may cause, we wanted to take the opportunity whilst on site to carry out the additional repairs to prevent a further closure later in the year.

Navigation will now resume the afternoon of Friday 19 January.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am-4pm Tuesday 16 January 2024)

Please be advised our local team will be onsite at Lock 62 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to carry out a repair to the ground paddle on Tuesday 16, January from 8am to 4pm.

To ensure a safe working environment, padlocks will be placed on Lock 58, Top Lock and Lock 64, Bottom Lock to prevent access on to the Johnsons Hillock flight.

Bridge 17, Quay Street Loco Liftbridge

RESTRICTION (8am-6pm Tuesday 16 January 2024)

A principal inspection of Loco Bridge will take place on Tuesday 16th January. 

Canal users may be subject to a short delay of up to 20 minutes but will be allowed to pass through as soon as access equipment is moved to a safe position; clear of the waterway and towpath.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (until 4pm Friday 1 March 2024)

Update on 16/01/2024:

The works at this location have been disrupted and delayed by flooding and adverse weather.

We are still experiencing the impacts of this disruption as contractors were not able to reschedule the installation of the scaffolding until the 12 January 2024. These delays have put this work back by 1 week which means the new completion date is the 1 March 2024.

We will update this notice if anything changes.

The works at these locatiosn have been disrupted and delayed by flooding and adverse weather.

We are still experiencing the impact of this disruption particularly in mobilising plant to site. These delays have put this work back by 1 week which means the new completion date is the 16 February 2024.

Pump Out, Tyle Mill Below Lock

ADVICE (9.45am Monday 15 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that due to an ingress of river water in to the septic tank at Tyle Mill the site has become unusable.

We are working urgently with our contractors to resolve this situation and we will update this notice when the repairs have been completed.
