Dunham – Visitor Moorings Due to recent flooding, the Northern side of the pontoon on Dunham visitor moorings is currently stuck up out of the water and is not safe to use. Now that the water levels have come back down, we have been able to assess the situation and the damage is extensive. A crane boat is required on site to carry out the repairs but, due to other essential works taking place on the network, we do not yet have a time scale as to when the crane boat will be on site. We will update this notice by the 16th February or as soon as we have further information PD Ports Jetty Port of Howden ADVICE (8am Thursday 18 January until 6pm Friday 19 January 2024) Contractors will be undertaking bed levelling and survey work at Jetty No. 4 PD Ports Howdendyke, this is the upstream jetty. The survey tug ‘Little Shuva’ will be engaged in the work and will maintain a listening watch on channel 9 & 14. Skippers of all craft are to exercise care and caution in the area and to give the ‘Little Shuva” as wide a berth as possible, passing at the SLOWEST POSSIBLE SPEED to avoid creating a wash. Bridge 145, Wanless Bridge Starts At: Foulridge Tunnel North East Portal We’re pleased to report our contractors have successfully sealed culvert leaks near Bridge 145, Wanless Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Final stages of removing dams and pumps are underway. Navigation will resume promptly tomorrow on Friday, 19th January, at 10:00 am. Our contractors will continue their presence on-site over the next few weeks to undertake additional tasks. They will be focusing on installing new access steps to the culvert and reinstating the towpath following the culvert works. Culvert 19 Blacon, near Chester. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (until 4pm Friday 23 February 2024) As you will be aware from our previous update, additional work was added into the programme due to the leak found from the canal bed into the culvert. The current enabling works for the culvert repair is taking place from the towpath and as such we now need to add additional temporary works to create a ramp into the canal to get a larger excavator on site. We have explored the option of a temporary repair to the bed, refilling and coming back later in the year to do a full repair but have concluded the best approach is to complete the repair. Therefore we need to extend the closure until the 23 February 2024 and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause our boating customers. Gloucester Basin.
