RE-008-004 – Lock 5, City Road Lock City Road Lock is now operational. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Saturday 20 January 2024 until further notice) RE- 008-004 City Road Lock has been closed due to the lock not equalising resulting from gate issues, making the lock to be inoperable at the moment. We aim to reopen as soon as we possibly can. St Neots Lock Update 20/01/24: Further to our Navigation Advisory Notice issued this morning, 20 January 2024, regarding a log in the sluice at St Neots, this is now rescinded as the log has been removed and the river levels are recovering. ADVICE (Saturday 20 January 2024 until rescinded) Please be aware of a submerged log wedged in the sluice at St Neots Lock which is preventing the gate to fully close. This is effecting river levels, causing them to drop. Houghton Four Gates OBSTRUCTION (Saturday 20 January 2024 until rescinded) Please be aware we have received a report of a fallen tree in navigation which we will look into as soon as it is practical to do so. W3W location – ///steady.sprinter.tarred High Water ADVICE (10.45am Saturday 20 January 2024 until further notice) We are dealing with High Water levels in the pound between Pollington Lock and Goole Caisson (Including the New Junction arm to Sykehouse). The reason for the high water is due to ongoing works at Goole Caisson. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are currently taking action to drop the water levels back to normal but this could take some time due to the volume of water. We will keep you updated as things progress. Repairs have now been made, the lock is open with booking. Lock 57 – Kegworth Shallow Flood Lock The tree has been cleared and pedestrians can now proceed as normal. Guillotine Lock Due to unforeseen circumstances the works have had to be postponed. We will issue a notice once the works have been re-scheduled. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Thursday 18 January until 5pm Wednesday 24 January 2024) The guillotine lock will be closed from Thursday 18th January 2024. We are removing the lock tail paddles to re-fix them to the paddle frames to make them work more effectively ahead of the new summer season. We estimate that the repair will take 7 days and anticipate that the lock will re-open on Wednesday 24th January. We will provide an update on progress no later than 24th January. Bridge 2, Starkes Bridge We are pleased to advise that these works have been completed early and the navigation is now open. Starts At: Lock 32, Nell Bridge Lock STRONG STREAM RECEDED. Navigation status normal (green) Near to Pilling’s Lock Marina entrance – River Soar The sunken boat has now been re-floated. Boaters can proceed as normal. Lock 89, Widmead Lock NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Friday 19 January 2024 until further notice) Please be advised that due to the recent floods, Widmead Lock 89 has sustained damage to the offside internal wall. Repairs will be undertaken once river levels have dropped. We will update this notice when the repair has been completed. Towpath between Avenue Road Bridge and Rocky Lane Bridge, Aston TOWPATH CLOSURE (3pm Friday 19 January 2024 until further notice) We’ve had to temporarily close the towpath between Avenue Road Bridge and Rocky Lane Bridge, Aston, on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal. A third party wall has been deemed unsafe and in danger of collapsing, so we have taken the decision to close it immediately. We will endeavour to make contact with the owners of the wall, and we’ll share any further updates as soon as we receive them.Update on 21/01/2024:
