Swing bridge passage during extreme heat ADVICE (4pm Tuesday 19 July 2022 until further notice) Please be advised during this period of extreme heat the swing bridges may not operate effectively, try to make your passage earlier in the day before the temperatures peak. Towpath Access ramp at Albert House 92-93 Edward Street ADVICE (8am Wednesday 20 July until 5pm Monday 25 July 2022) London Network Scaffolding Ltd working on behalf of Telent Technology Services Ltd are installing scaffold on the access ramp at Tindal Bridge to gain access to the roof of Albert House. Width of access ramp will be restricted to 1.5 m minimum. Signage will be in place to advise cyclists and pedestrians of the works. Pipe Bridge RESTRICTION (8am-6pm Tuesday 19 July 2022) Third party contractors will be carrying out an inspection of the pipe bridge via roped access. The canal and towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and be prepared to stop if requested. Warning signs, banksmen and a safety boat will be used. Bridge 19, Sheffield Swingbridge Further to the notice below, we are pleased to advise that contractors have repaired Sheffield Swingbridge, and it is now fully operational. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8.30am Tuesday 19 July 2022 until further notice) We are sorry to report that Sheffield Swingbridge has sustained significant damage following a road traffic accident in the early hours of this morning. We are not confident at the moment that the bridge can be operated safely and have asked contractors to attend urgently to carry out an inspection, advise and instigate repairs. We will update this notice with further information once the inspection is complete later today. Bridge 10, Willings Bridge restricted navigation due to rubbish clearing This will now continue tomorrow 21st July and will finish at 17:00 RESTRICTION (10am-5pm Wednesday 20 July 2022) Please be advised that an operational craft will be moored around the bridge clearing a build up of rubbish. The work craft may block navigation for short periods and passing craft will be required to wait. Fallen tree on the offside downstream of Selby Railway Bridge The tree has now been cleared, the navigation is now fully open. RESTRICTION (3.30pm Tuesday 19 July 2022 until further notice) A tree has fallen down on the offside, just downstream of the East Coast Main Line Rail Bridge. Boats are able to pass but it is tight. Could skippers of all crafts please slow down and approach the area with caution. We will be having contractors out to site. We will update the notice with any further information that we receive. Lock 48, Knowle Lock 4 This has been resolved. Navigation is now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10am Saturday 16 July 2022 until further notice) Both bottom-end paddles are out of action. Local team will look at resolving this fault at the start of the week – Monday 18th July. Lock 72, Cobblers Lock Further to the notice below, contractors have now removed the fallen tree and the navigation is open. However, please proceed with caution as there may be underwater obstructions. Further to the notice below, unfortunately contractors have been unable to remove the tree west of Lock 72 Cobblers Lock. We expect contractors to return to site this afternoon and an update will be provided at 2pm today (Friday 15th July) NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7.30pm Thursday 14 July 2022 until further notice) A tree has fallen across the canal just west of Lock 72 – Cobblers Lock and is currently blocking the full width of the navigation. Contractors will be attending on the morning of 15th July to start to clear the tree. An update will be provided by 11.00 to advise when the navigation is likely to be re-opened. The towpath is unaffected and remains open. Starts At: Lock 17, Tottenham Lock, Western Side RESTRICTION (10am Friday 15 July 2022 until further notice) Please be advised that we’re currently investigating the continuous low levels of water at lock 17, Tottenham Lock. The lock will remain in operation, but we kindly ask customers to be prepared that the lock may take longer to operate, and you may also be asked to wait for a short period of time whilst these investigations are taking place. Navigation Closure due to divers, Lock 17, Tottenham Lock NAVIGATION CLOSURE (7am-11.45pm Tuesday 19 July 2022) Please be advised that the navigation will be closed on Tuesday 19th July 22 whilst divers carry out repairs to lock 17, Tottenham lock. We appreciate your understanding whilst these works are being carried out. Bridge 7, Mitton Chapel pedestrian bridge The works have been complete. The bridge is now free to use. ADVICE (12noon Friday 15 July 2022 until further notice) We have had to close the pedestrian bridge due to vandalism. Materials are on order to repair the damage and we will action as soon as we are able to. Lock 37, Dashwood Lock Repairs to lock 37 are being planned for Friday 15/07/2022. The team are preparing the tools and equipment required to undertake the repairs required to get the lock operational NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4pm Wednesday 13 July 2022 until further notice) Please be aware, Dashwood Lock 37 is closed due to vandalism of a previous repair. The lock no longer fills with water. low water The water levels between Thornton Lock and Top Lock have significantly improved and we can reopen the canal. The water levels from Cottingworth Lock to Thornton Lock have improved and we can reopen the canal. However, upstream from Thornton Lock, there is very little water in the canal, so upstream from Thornton Lock (included) will remain closed. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.15pm Wednesday 13 July 2022 until further notice) Due to low water levels on the Pocklington Canal, we have had to implement a navigation closure from Cottingworth Lock to Thornton in order to conserve the water. We will update the notice when the situation improves. Anderton Customer Services, Northwich ADVICE (8am-5pm Thursday 14 July 2022) Please be advised Anderton Customer Service Facilities will be closed between 8am and 5pm on Thursday 14 July to undertake repair work to the underground drainage system. The customer service facilities and pump out station will reopen from 5pm, Thursday 14 July.
