Update on 23/01/2024:

The large low level tree stump overhanging the towpath between bridge 15 and 15A, on the Ashby Canal has now been cleared.  Towpath users can proceed as normal.

Fallen tree
Bridge 145

RESTRICTION (2.30pm Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that due to a fallen tree the navigation is restricted at Bridge 145 on the Grand Union. Unfortunately, widebeams will not be able to pass. 

Contractors have been arranged and the tree should be removed within 5 days.

Horse shoe bend

ADVICE (3pm Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

A pontoon has become dislodged from its moorings from a property near horseshoe bend, will skippers of all craft please be aware in this location and downstream towards Stockton until it can be made safe and buoyed.

Update on 22/01/2024:

The tree is now only restricting navigation. The towpath will remain closed.

Contractors should be clearing the rest of the tree today. We’ll update this notice as soon as we receive confirmation the tree has been cleared.

Naburn Large Lock

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9.45am Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

Naburn Lock is non operational due to rising water levels.

We will update the notice when the water levels have returned to a level that the locks can be operated at.

Closed due to flood siltation and debris.
Beal Lock (Lock 4)

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10.15am Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

The lock is closed due to flood siltation and debris, 

Contractors will be attending site to assess the works required.

We will update this notice once we have more information to share. 

Ely Pump Out

Update on 22/01/2024:

Further to our Navigation Advisory Notice issued on 18 January 2024 for the burst pipe at Ely Pump Out, this is now rescinded as the pipe has been repaired.

Lock 67, Little Bedwyn Lock

ADVICE (11.15am Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that a privately owned wall at Little  Bedwyn Lock has fallen onto the towpath.

Please proceed with care.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11.30pm Monday 22 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that navigation is closed between Bridge 128 and Bridge 129 on the Lancaster canal due to a windblown tree.  

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their arrival on site. 

An update will be provided tomorrow, Tuesday 23 January.

Update on 22/01/2024:

Further to Navigation Advisory Notice issued 17 January 2024, regarding a fallen tree at Perio Lock, this is now rescinded as the tree has been removed.

The Elsan and water point are out of use due to a burst water pipe.
