Lock 90, Monkey Marsh Lock

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.15pm Thursday 25 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that due to the recent flooding, a  gravel bar has formed just below Lock 90, Monkey Marsh Lock.

Unfortunately, this has made this section unnavigable.

We are engaging with contractors to have this obstruction dredged as soon as is practicable.

Lock 8, Holme Lock

Update on 25/01/2024:

The fault with Holme Lock has been resolved and boaters can now operate the lock as normal.

Lock 38 – Kings Lock to Lock 38 – Kings Lock on Leicester Line (Grand Union Canal) and
Bridge 30 – County Road to Bridge 30 – County Road on River Soar

Update on 25/01/2024:

The section of the River Soar between Kings Lock and County Road Bridge 30 remains closed due to known flood damage to Kings Lock and the narrowboat which is currently sunk across County Road Bridge 30.  

We hope to have reopened the navigation at County Road Bridge 30 by Friday 9th February, when we will next update this notice.

Doncaster lock – now open

Update on 24/01/2024:

Water levels have receded, navigation is now open. 

Queen Adelaide Bridge – TL 56541 81454

Further to Navigation Advisory Notice issued on 15 January 2024 for the capsized vessel at Queen Adelaide Bridge on the Ely Ouse, this is now rescinded as the vessel has been removed.

Bridge 177, Brewery Swing Bridge

Update on 24/01/2024:

We are expecting the new part to arrive today, we will give a further update at 4pm. 

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4pm Tuesday 23 January 2024 until further notice)

The bridge is currently out of action due to damage to one of the barriers,

Contractors have been on-site to asses the damage, they will return when the new parts have arrived.

We are pleased to advise the wind blown tree has been removed and navigation has resumed between Bridge 84 and Bridge 85 on the Macclesfield Canal.

Rosegrove Customer Service Facilities & Pump Out

Update on 24/01/2024:

We are pleased to advise that Rosegrove Customer Service Facilities and Pump Out, on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, are now open for use.

Between Vines Park Barge Lock and Lock 6, Droitwich Junction

Update on 24/01/2024:

Water levels have recovered, however navigation remains closed due to siltation. 

Bridge 17, Deepdale Bridge

RESTRICTION (Wednesday 24 January 2024 until further notice)

The offside parapet of bridge Deepdale Bridge 17 on the T&M has been struck by a vehicle.

The local team has made an initial assessment and the Bridge does not appear unstable. However, there may be some underwater obstructions as a result of the accident and so boaters are asked to proceed with care.   

We are planning the repairs but we do not yet have a time scale for when the work will take place.  

We will update this notice by the 9th February or as soon as we have further information. 

Between Kings Lock (Leicester Line) and Redhill Lock (River Soar)

Update on 24/01/2024:

Water levels have started to come down between Kings Lock (Leicester Line) and Redhill Lock (River Soar) and we are now out of flood. Boaters can proceed as normal.

Ends At: Lock 103, Burghfield Lock

ADVICE (4pm Wednesday 24 January 2024 until further notice)

Please be advised that a tree is blocking navigation between bridge 15,Swan bridge and Burghfield lock 103.

Contractors have been informed but are unable to remove the tree until water levels drop significantly.
