Opened The water levels have returned and we are able to open Oxclose Lock. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Tuesday 31 January 2023 until further notice) Oxclose Lock is closed due to ongoing repairs at Belfurrows Lock that has resulted in a drop in water levels between Oxclose and Belfurrows Lock. The closure is to maintain the water levels outside of these locks on the canal. We will review it on Friday afternoon, where we hope to have a progression on the works and pumps can be put in place. Near Langley Mill Our local team have attended site and boaters can now travel along the navigation as normal. RESTRICTION (Thursday 26 January 2023 until further notice) We have had a report of a motorbike in the canal near Langley Mill. It is close to the bank and so not currently blocking the navigation. We have reported this to our local team and they will be attending site to assess the situation and decide the best way to get the motorbike removed. Please proceed with care, when travelling past the bike and as soon as we have more information, we will update the website accordingly. Long Buckby CSF Our contractors have attended site and successfully carried out the required repairs to the Elsan. There is no longer an issue with the water feed pipe, and customers can now use the Elsan. ADVICE (Thursday 26 January 2023 until further notice) The water feed pipe on the elsan has been damaged and is no longer attached to the wall. It has been isolated by our local team, however this does mean that both the tap and the flush are now not working and so the elsan is temporarily out of action. We have raised an urgent job with our contractors, and as soon as we have more information, we will update the website accordingly. Wood Choppings in the Navigation: Victoria Quays to Tinsley Lock 1 RESTRICTION (12.30pm Friday 27 January 2023 until further notice) There are currently choppings of wood in the navigation from Victoria Quays to Lock 1 Tinsley. All boaters and navigation traffic are advised to be mindful when passing through this area, whilst contractors work to remove the debris. Salterhebble Top Basin, below Lock 1 ADVICE (9am Thursday 26 January until 8am Sunday 26 February 2023) The failed and unsafe mooring staging serving the closed Sanitary Facility has been removed for reasons of safety. The water point at this location is no longer accessible or available for use. The nearest alternative water point is immedaitley above Lock 1 at Salterhebble. Starts At: Lock 2 Gloucester Lock Further to the notice below, please be advised that river levels have fallen sufficiently to allow navigation from Gloucester Lock (Lock 2) to Lincomb Lock (Lock 9). Bridge 20, Coxhead Swing Bridge We are pleased to advise the safety barrier has now been repaired at Bridge 20, Coxhead Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and navigation has resumed. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.15pm Wednesday 25 January 2023 until further notice) Navigation is currently closed at Bridge 20, Coxhead Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a broken safety barrier. Our contractors have been informed. An update will be provided Friday 27th January Castle Mills Lock – 20ft from D/S Landing Stage Updated on 28/02/2023): Tree removal works downstream from Castle Mills Lock Landing Stage have been completed and our updated emergency closure navigation issued 27 Feb 23 is now rescinded. ADVICE (Tuesday 24 January 2023 until rescinded) Please be aware of a large fallen tree located near the downstream landing UPDATE (Wednesday 25 January 2023) The Strong Stream Advice issued for the River Nene has been Closed large obstruction in navigation The navigation is now open, investigations have taken place and the report of an obstruction is incorrect. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11am Wednesday 25 January 2023 until further notice) We have received reports that a steel pontoon has sunk mid channel. Navigation is closed until we can locate the obstruction. We will update the notice as soon as we have more information. Pitchfork Bridge, near Baker Street TOWPATH CLOSURE (7.30am Thursday 26 January until 6pm Friday 3 February 2023) South Staffs Water will be carrying out emergency repairs on a leaking water pipe. The towpath will be closed but towpath users can use the bridge to bypass the closure and rejoin the towpath further up. Shopping Trolley in navigation – removed The trolley has now been removed from the navigation. ADVICE (11am Monday 23 January 2023 until further notice) Please be advised there is a shopping trolley in the navigation, slow down on approach. We will update the notice once the trolley has been removed. Large Tree in Navigation – Scarborough Railway Bridge The large tree in the navigation has been removed from the downstream arch and is no longer obstructing any traffic travelling downstream. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Monday 23 January 2023 until further notice) There is a large tree in the navigation obstructing the downstream arch therefore it is closed to downstream traffic, however would skippers of all craft coming upstream slow down on approach and watch out for other traffic using the same upstream arch. We will update the notice as soon as the tree has been removed.
