TOWPATH CLOSURE (until 4pm Friday 10 March 2023)

Update on 27/02/2023:

We would like to advise our customers that our in-water works have been completed and the navigation is now open. Please note that the towpath will need to remain closed until the published end date which is 10/03/2023.

A stoppage is required to carry out repairs to the towpath support beam.  

Approx 200 Yards Upstream of Denver

ADVICE (Monday 27 February 2023 until rescinded)

Please be aware we have received reports of a large volume drum anchored
in the centre of the navigation channel on the Hundred Foot tidal river approx
200 yards upstream of Denver.
We are looking into these reports as soon as it is practical to do so and will
then issue a further update. In the meantime if navigating in this area please
proceed with extreme caution.

Downstream Canoe Portage Ashton Lock

Update on 7/03/2023:

The navigation advisory notice issued for damage to the downstream canoe portage at Ashton Lock on the River Nene on 24/02/2023 is now rescinded as repairs have been made.

ADVICE (Friday 24 February 2023 until further notice)

Please be aware that contractors have made a temporary repair to damage made to the downstream canoe portage at Ashton Lock. The repair has left a raised edge on the canoe portage as shown.

If using the canoe portage please do so with caution whilst this temporary repair is in place

Please be advised the shower facilities at Nantwich Customer Service Facilities are currently out of use due to no water. 
Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their attendance on site Monday.

We have put out separate notices out to clarify exact locations of navigation closures. 

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12noon Thursday 23 February 2023 until further notice)

We have had a report of an oil spillage, a navigation closure is in place until we have more information.

Update on 24/02/2023:

We are pleased to advise the incident has been resolved, and booms removed from the canal. 

Navigation can now resume between Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.30pm Thursday 23 February 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised navigation is currently closed between Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a fire incident on third party adjacent land.

A boom has been placed in the canal to capture any pollution and further water testing is being carried out today.

To ensure the safety of our customers, padlocks have been placed on Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock to prevent access on to the Blackburn flight.

A further update will be provided tomorrow, Friday 24 February.

The Police Incident has been closed.

The navigation is open.

The Police incident is ongoing but the navigation has now been opened around Lock 22 Millbank Lock.

Just to confirm, the navigation is now open between Lock 21 Double Lock Bottom and Lock 23 Figure of Three Top Lock.

Please follow any instructions given by police and/or staff in the area if given any.

Update on 24/02/2023:

The Police incident is ongoing and navigation remains closed in this area.

CRT are in daily contact with Police and hope to have the navigation open as soon Police allow this.
