A tree has fallen blocking the navigation and the towpath at Hollins Bridge, Bridge 34.

Contractors will be contacted to remove the tree, but delays may be experienced due to the weather.

We will update the notice when the tree has been removed.

Update on 10/03/2023:

Contractors haven’t been able to get to site for the last couple of days because of the weather conditions at the moment, so the completion date has been revised.

We may need to review again depending on what the weather brings next week.

Following on from recent burst pipes in the ceiling, we are having to close the facility while we replace parts of the damaged ceiling. 

The whole facility will be closed and we apologise for the late notice about this closure.

Update on 13/03/2023:

The weather has improved over the weekend, and our volunteers are now back on site, operating the lock flight as normal.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Friday 10 March 2023 until further notice)

Due to the snow and general weather conditions, it is unlikely that we will be able to safely operate the Foxton Flight today.

We are checking the availability of staff and volunteers and will update if we are able to get the flight operational.

Bridge 27, Padworth Swingbridge

Update on 10/03/2023:

Further to the notice below, Padworth Swingbridge has now been fixed and is fully operational.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10.30am Friday 10 March 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised that due to a power failure, Padworth Swingbridge is closed to navigation.

Our contractors have been informed and will be attending site as soon as possible.

Once the problem has been diagnosed and fixed we will update this notice.

Update on 15/03/2023:

We are pleased to advise the tree obstructing the navigation between Bridges 88 & 89 on Lancaster Canal has now been removed.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.30pm Friday 10 March 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised the navigation is closed between Bridges 88 & 89 on Lancaster Canal due to a windblown tree.

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site Monday to remove the obstruction.

An update will be provided this Monday afternoon.

Little Venice Pumpout

ADVICE (1pm Friday 10 March 2023 until further notice)

Due to a mechanical fault the Pumpout at Little Venice has been rendered inoperable.

Our contractors are due to attend to review the issue and we will continue to update this notice as we know more.

Bridge 14, Fallingroyd Tunnel

Update on 20/03/2023:

The tree has now been removed.  Navigation is now open.

Update on 10/03/2023:

Due to poor weather conditions these works have been deferred. Works will now take place from 14/03/23 to 16/03/23.

ADVICE (8am Wednesday 8 March until 5pm Friday 10 March 2023)

Contractors working on behalf of Midland Metro will be undertaking investigation works to an outfall pipe that discharges into the Walsall Canal south of Railway Bridge, Hempole Lane, on the towpath side.

The towpath will remain open, but barriers will be placed around the works, which will restrict its width. Signage and banksmen will be utilised to manage pedestrians and boaters. We kindly remind towpath users and boaters to follow signage and directions given on site.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (Wednesday 8 March until Thursday 9 March 2023)

Please be advised that an abutment inspection is taking place beneath Bridge 32 on Regents Canal, workers in water but not diving
