NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Friday 14 April 2023 until further notice)

Fallen tree is blocking the Grand Union Canal, near bridge 63 on the south side as you head south from Yardley Gobian, towards Cosgrove.  

Contractors have been informed and will be on site to remove the obstruction as soon as possible.

Cadent Gas need to carry out emergency investigation and repair works to a leaking gas pipe, underneath our towpath.

Works will be barriered off and towpath users will be managed past by banksmen. Please take care if passing.

A tree has fallen at Cross Keys Bridge 83A on the Staffordshire & Worcester, partially blocking navigation.

Unfortunately, there is an issue with the pump out machine and it is currently out of order.

We have requested our contractors attend ASAP, we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.

We are pleased to advise the tree has been removed and the canal is now open between Bridge 53, Catterall Bridge and Bridge 54, Ray Lane Bridge on the Lancaster Canal without restriction.

Update on 14/04/2023:

Please be advised our contractors have attended site but were unable to fully remove the windblown tree between Bridge 53, Catterall Bridge and Bridge 54, Ray Lane Bridge on the Lancaster Canal.

Restricted navigation can now resume, however we politely request all customers to navigate through the affected area with care.

A further update will be provided Monday 17 April.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (10.15am Friday 14 April 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised navigation is closed between Bridge 53, Catterall Bridge and Bridge 54, Ray Lane Bridge on the Lancaster Canal due to a windblown tree.

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site today to remove the obstruction.

Update on 17/04/2023:

We are pleased to advise the tree has been removed and the canal is now open at Bridge 91B, Finnington Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal without restriction.

RESTRICTION (11.30am Friday 14 April 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised there is a windblown tree at Bridge 91B, Finnington Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal restricting navigation. 

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site to remove the obstruction over the weekend.

Navigation will remain open, however, wide beams will not be able to pass until the tree has been removed

We politely request all narrowboat customers to navigate through the affected area with care.  

An update will be provided this Monday 17 April.

Update on 13/04/2023:

The tree has been cleared.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11am Wednesday 12 April 2023 until further notice)

A tree has fallen on the Worcester & Birmingham canal near Bridge 85, blocking navigation.

Contractors attended to it yesterday afternoon and cut some of the tree back but they require extra tools to cut the rest. They are expected to attend again at midday today. 

We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available.

Our team have successfully completed the repairs to Broadmoor lock 24.

RESTRICTION (2pm Thursday 13 April 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised that there is an obstruction in the navigation on the River Severn. This underwater obstruction is on the first bend out of Gloucester Lock before Westgate Bridge. 

It can be difficult to identify the obstruction during high water levels so please proceed with caution. We advise customers to speak with Gloucester Lock before travel 01452 310832.

We have begun to mobilise contractors and we will update this notice as information becomes available.

We have obtained further information on the location of the tree in the navigation.

Location:  Upstream of Tinker roads. Downstream of Riccall Manor.

It is suspected that there is a tree in the River Ouse between Riccall and Cawood.

Could skippers of all crafts, please slow down and approach the area with caution.

Due to the dense vegetation, it has been difficult to locate the exact location of the tree from the surrounding land.

Our local team and engineers are planning to start the repairs tomorrow.
