Both waterpoints are now working, apologies for the delay in advising this.

Both waterpoints are currently out of order that are outside the facility.

Update on 28/06/2023:

We are pleased to advise repairs to the waterway wall are now complete and the towpath is open again.

Update on 25/05/2023:

Our reactive response team have been out on site today to scope out the works required. We hope to have a date in mind for repairs next week.

Update on 18/05/2023:

The towpath wall has collapsed, narrowing the towpath to an unsafe width. We will endeavour to repair this as soon as possible and open the towpath again as soon as it is safe to do so.

We will aim to provide another update at the beginning of next week.

TOWPATH CLOSURE (11am Thursday 18 May 2023 until further notice)

We have had to the to close the towpath between Broad Bulk Bridge and Wiggins Hill Bridge on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal.

Bridge 187, Warehouse Swing Bridge

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3pm Thursday 18 May 2023 until further notice)

The team attended site and have found a broken return spring in the hydraulic arm on this bridge.
Contractors are currently carrying out works to repair and have a new spring fabricated which is related to the cylinder that has failed.
In the meantime we are looking into a temporary repair to see if we can get the bridge back in action as soon as possible.
The bridge is currently closed to all navigation traffic but open to the road.
Bridge 187 is expected to be out of action until tomorrow afternoon.
A further update will be provided as soon as we have new information.

Wigan
Chapel Lane CSF

Update on 19/05/2023:

We are pleased to advise the Chapel Lane Customer Service Facilities are back open following a successful repair to the drainage system.

ADVICE (4.15pm Thursday 18 May 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised Chapel Lane Customer Service Facilities are currently closed due to blocked drains.

Contractors have been informed and we anticipate their attendance on site tomorrow.

An update will be provided tomorrow, Friday 19 May.

Update on 19/05/2023:

The locks are now open for navigation traffic to use. Water levels have been restored for passage. 

Please note we will be monitoring and assessing water levels daily to keep an eye on the level of water.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9.15am Wednesday 17 May 2023 until further notice)

Due to low water levels in the pound between Lock 9 Black Pit Hebden Bridge and Lock 8 Mayroyd navigation has been closed. 

Once water levels have recovered sufficiently to enable navigation to take recommence the locks will  be reopened for normal use.

Toilet Closed
Barnby Dun Sanitary Station

ADVICE (10am Wednesday 17 May 2023 until further notice)

The toilet at Barnby Dun has an issue with the door and will not open.  Contractors have been instructed to attend. 

We will update the notice when a repair has been made.

RESTRICTION (until 5pm Friday 20 October 2023)

Please be advised our contractors will be onsite between Bridge 49aa, Scot Lane Bridge and Lock 89, Ell Meadow Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to carry out necessary towpath improvements.

The towpath and navigation will remain open. However, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to wait until the area is made safe to pass.

Please to listen to any advice that may be given by the onsite team.

Warning Signage and barriers will be in place on both approached to the works.

RESTRICTION (until 5pm Friday 20 October 2023)

Please be advised our contractors will be onsite between Bridge 49aa, Scot Lane Bridge and Bridge 42, Appley Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to carry out necessary towpath surface improvements.

The towpath and navigation will remain open. However, there may be sections of the towpath that are closed for due to operational reasons during this period.

We politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to wait until the area is made safe to pass.

Please to listen to any advice that may be given by the onsite team.

D/S Entrance to Brampton Navigation Channel

Update on 17/05/2023:

Further to our navigation advisory notice issued on 16 May 2023 for a tree in the river downstream of the entrance to the navigation channel at Brampton, the tree has been removed and the notice is therefore rescinded.

ADVICE (Tuesday 16 May 2023 until rescinded)

Please be aware of a tree which has fallen into the navigation at the downstream entrance to the navigation channel at Brampton. To access Brampton Lock, boats can still use the mill pool channel although are
requested to proceed with caution in this area because the cross flow can vary when the adjacent sluice is in operation.

We will look to remove this tree as soon as it is practical to do so.

Longwood Elsan disposal

Update on 16/05/2023:

The leak has now been fixed and the Elsan is back in use.

ADVICE (12noon Monday 24 April 2023 until further notice)

The Elsan is currently out of order whilst we get a leak fixed on the unit.

Johnsons Hillock Lock Flight

Update on 16/05/2023:

We are pleased to advise the repairs to the tail gate at Lock 63 are now complete, and navigation has resumed between Lock 58 to Lock 64, Johnsons Hillock Lock Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.45pm Tuesday 16 May 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised navigation is currently closed from Lock 58 to Lock 64, Johnsons Hillock Lock Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to an issue with the tail gate at Lock 63.

Our team are currently investigating the issue and an update will be provided later this afternoon.  

Elsan
Aldermaston Sanitary Station

Update on 16/05/2023:

Further to the notice below, please be advised that the elsan at Aldermaston Wharf has now been fixed and is fully operational.

ADVICE (3.45pm Thursday 13 April 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised that the elsan at Aldermaston Wharf  is currently blocked and inoperable.

Contractors have been requested to attend site and we will advise as soon as these repairs have been actioned.

Update on 16/05/2023:

The water levels have recovered and the lock opening times have been reinstated.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1.30pm Saturday 13 May 2023 until further notice)

Due to low water levels in the pound between Lock 9 Black Pit Hebden Bridge and Lock 8 Mayroyd navigation has been closed. 

The lock gates at Lock 8 have been ashed up to reduce leakage through them. Once water levels have recovered sufficiently to enable navigation to take recommence the locks will  be reopened for normal use.

Update on 14/05/2023:

We would like to issue a polite reminder to all boaters to please leave the Locks in the correct position with the guillotine gate raised and the v doors closed when navigating along the River Nene, this ensures water levels remain navigable and also ensures control boxes are locked after use.
