The tree has been cleared.

Skipton CSF – No electricity

ADVICE (10.30am Friday 8 December 2023 until further notice)

There is currently no electricity at Skipton Sanitary Station.

We have reported it to our contractors who have logged it as an emergency attendance.

We will update the notice when we receive further information regarding the issue.

Update on 08/12/2023:

River levels are responding to recent rainfall

The following flood locks/gates are closed and navigation restricted:

Leeds Dock (Clarence Dock) Flood Gates

Castleford Flood Lock

Ferrybridge Flood Lock 

Broadreach Flood Lock

Bank Dole Flood Lock

Please check the Strong Stream Warning board and marker at each flood lock before entering the river section of navigation. 

This notice will be regularly updated as water level conditions change.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am-6pm Friday 8 December 2023)

Please be advised that due to a power outage the navigation is closed between Bridge 8, Fretherne Bridge and Bridge 10, Junction Bridge, Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.

National Grid are working to resolve the issue and hope to restore power to the area by 6pm tonight.

Burst hydraulic pipe on the upstream sluice
Linton Lock

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4pm Thursday 7 December 2023 until further notice)

One of the hydraulic pipes have burst on the upstream sluice of Linton Lock.

Navigation is currently closed and we will be attending site tomorrow to see if the issue can resolved.

We will update the notice when we have further information.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8.45am Friday 8 December 2023 until further notice)

Please be advised due to the adverse weather conditions resulting in high water levels, navigation is currently closed on the Weaver Navigation. 

Our local team are aware and are onsite to help with water management.

An update will be provided once normal levels have resumed.

Don Doors are now closed due to rising river levels, this will be reviewed in the morning and the notice updated when river levels have returned to normal

Teddington Barge Lock

NAVIGATION ISSUE (Wednesday 6 December 2023 until further notice)

Teddington Barge Lock power is currently unavailable. You can use the lock by handwinding. We will update this webpage when power is available again.

Doncaster Lock

Update on 07/12/2023:

Due to Rising River levels, Passage through Doncaster Lock is not possible at this time.

We will review the river level tomorrow and update this notice when river levels have returned to normal.   

Tinsley Flight – Lock 4, Sluice Failed

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Thursday 7 December 2023 until further notice)

The sluice has failed on lock 4, resulting in a closure.

Passage will still be possible from 4 up and 4 down.

We are organising contractors and will update the notice once we have more information to share.

Update on 07/12/2023:

We are pleased to advise that the Weaver Navigation is now open to navigation. Our teams continue to carry out water management along the river which includes sluice control, due to this, we are currently unable to take any bookings for Vale Royal Lock due to the close proximity of the sluice. If you require a booking for Vale Royal Lock, please contact our North West Customer Support Team on 0303 0404040 to discuss this further.

Near Lock 53 – Loughborough Lock

Update on 07/12/2023:

The police have now recovered the vehicle.  Users of the towpath and navigation, can now proceed as normal. 

ADVICE (Thursday 7 December 2023 until further notice)

A vehicle has been driven into the river soar, near Loughborough Lock.  

The police are aware and arranging for it to be recovered.  

Both the towpath and navigation are still accessible.

Customers are asked to proceed with care and to follow advice from both the police and local team on site.  We will update the website as soon as the vehicle has been removed from site. 

Towpath from Kidderminster Lock Turnover Bridge to Sainsburys

TOWPATH CLOSURE (8am Thursday 7 December until 5pm Friday 8 December 2023)

Contractors working with Wester Power are carrying out cable repairs and have had to open the excavations much wider than anticipated. For safety reasons, the towpath will be closed from Kidderminster Lock Turnover Bridge to the towpath access outside Sainsburys until the hole is backfilled. This doesn’t affect Lock 6.

A diversion route will be in place. Please follow signage and instructions from contractors.

Mary Magdalen – Water points

ADVICE (Thursday 7 December 2023 until rescinded)

Please be aware that the water points at the above locations have now been shut down for the winter period. This is to reduce the number of frozen and burst pipe incidents occurring.
