THE Clifton Suspension Bridge, spanning the Avon, is one of the locations in a much-loved fundraising sculpture trail this summer.
Bristol-based animator Nick Park’s Academy Award-winning character, Gromit, was first unleashed on the streets of the city way back in 2013 to raise money for sick children. Now, more than 500 sculptures, four trails and 10 years later, the Gromit Unleashed trail has a legion of fans around the globe.

This year’s trail, on now until August 31, features beloved Gromit and his pal Wallace, villainous penguin Feathers McGraw, Shaun the Sheep and Norbut the Smart Gnome, who has a starring role in Wallace and Gromit’s latest movie adventure, Vengeance Most Fowl.
It is raising money for The Grand Appeal, which since 1995 has raised about £90 million to support Bristol Children’s Hospital in funding life-saving equipment, family accommodation, pioneering research and more.
Taking in other iconic locations in the city, including Narrow Quay on Bristol’s waterfront, participants can download an app and earn rewards by logging the sculptures they see. An exhibition of all 53 will be held in September and they will then be auctioned off in October. For more information, visit www.grandappeal.org.uk
