Lights, boats, action!
THE River Derwent, in Derbyshire, dazzled the crowds as enchanting displays of illuminated boats paraded on the water as part of this year’s Matlock Bath Illuminations.
The event, which ran from September 6 to October 26, was a sell-out success, which also featured fireworks and family entertainment.
During the eight-week season, Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders’ Association decorated themed models with an array of coloured lights. The models were mounted on rowing boats and paraded on the river and in Derwent Gardens, giving unique and illuminous displays.
Derbyshire Dales District Council has already confirmed that the event will be back in September 2026.
