ISLINGTON Boat Club is raising funds for a new engine for its core boat, PeggotyTom IV. Keeping the boat operational is critical to what the club does – without it, youth sessions and training courses are at risk.
“For many years, PeggotyTom IV has been more than just a narrowboat. She has been a place of calm, connection, and enjoyment, offering affordable – and often free – trips to people of all ages and backgrounds,” said the club.

“Thanks to careful upkeep, she remains sound in body. However, after years of loyal service, her heart – the engine – is now showing significant wear and tear. With a limited budget and rising maintenance demands, we believe the time has come to replace it with a completely new engine.
“A new engine will allow PeggotyTom IV to continue providing safe, reliable trips and to remain accessible to those who might otherwise miss out on the experience of being on the water.
“We can’t do this alone. Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and carefully used to secure PeggotyTom IV’s future and keep her cruising for many years to come.”
