ADVICE (10.45am Monday 24 July 2023 until further notice)

Milby Lock gates are due to be replaced in Winter 2023 as they are nearing the end of their life. In the meantime, please adhere to the following operating advice to ensure your passage through the lock is as smooth as possible.

Upstream gates use

Due to increased water entering the lock: –

  • Please close Offside Gate (nearest the pontoon ) first to reduce water ingress into the lock chamber.
  • Close all forward hatch covers and keep your craft away from the upstream gates.

Downstream gate use

Due to increased water entering the lock from the upstream gates: –

  • Please stay clear off upstream gates to prevent water ingress into your craft.
  • Close all forward hatch covers and keep your craft away from the upstream gates.
  • When opening Downstream gates please fully open both paddles and allow time for the level in the lock to equal.
