Update on 16/03/2023:
Please be advised this will now need to be a navigation restriction. Contractors will need to put a pontoon in the canal next to where they are working as a safety precaution.
There will be lookouts on site and the pontoon will be moved out of the way if needed to let boats pass.
TOWPATH RESTRICTION (9am-4pm Monday 20 March 2023)
There will be a structural investigation of an arch bridge to get information to calculate its strength. Brick cores will be taken from the arch using a fixed drill and the holes will be reinstated.
The work will be done from the towpath. For safety reasons, customers will not be able to walk past whilst the drill is being used. Lookouts will be on site and will escort customers past when it is safe to do so. Please be advised customers may have to wait up to 30 minutes to pass.
