We are pleased to advise the trees obstructing navigation have been removed and the canal is now open between Bridge 10, Strand Bridge Lock Lane and Bridge 12, Town End Swing Bridge on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Update on 23/08/2023:
Please be advised that navigation remains closed between Bridge 10, Strand Bridge Lock Lane and Bridge 12, Town End Swing Bridge on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to windblown trees.
We have now been granted permission to access third party land which will allow us to use the necessary machinery to facilitate the removal of the large trees.
Our contractors will be on site tomorrow, and we anticipate the work could take two days for a full removal.
Furthermore, in emergency cases, for any customers affected by this closure we have been given permission to use the water point at Tarleton Boat Yard, we would advise our affected customers to liaise direct with the boat yard regarding use of their water point.
A further update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, Thursday 24 August.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11.30am Monday 21 August 2023 until further notice)
