We are pleased to advise the tree obstructing the towpath and navigation has been removed and the canal is now open between Bridge No.7, Chapel Bridge and Bridge 8, Town Meadow Swing Bridge on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Update on 19/10/2023:
Please be advised navigation and towpath remain closed between Bridge No.7, Chapel Bridge and Bridge 8, Town Meadow Swing Bridge on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a windblown tree.
Our contractors attended site today to commence the necessary works to remove the windblown tree, however, due to the size they require an extra day to completely remove the tree from navigation.
We anticipate our contractors returning site tomorrow morning.
A further update will be provided tomorrow, Friday 20 October.
