Whitworth Street West – W3 Building Rochdale Canal

TOWPATH CLOSURE (7am Monday 6 March until 7pm Tuesday 31 October 2023)
Please be advised that third-party contractors will be onsite between bridge 97, Princess Street Bridge and Lock 89 on the Rochdale Canal to replace cladding on W3 building following government recommendations
The third-party contractors will be erecting scaffolding for access to the canal side elevation of Whitworth Street West – W3 Building. In order to access the elevation, scaffolding will be located at 2 locations on the towpath.
All towpath users will be diverted off the towpath and along the street running parallel (Whitworth Street) during the proposed towpath closures. Diversion routes will be in place.
Boaters mooring for Lock 88 maybe slightly restricted and asked that they tie to the mooring rings provided and not the scaffolding supports.
Whilst the navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and be prepared to stop if necessary.
Please take note of the signage and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors onsite.
