The team have assessed the levels this morning.
And are happy with the levels and have reopened Lock 8 for passage.
Update on 19/09/2023:
The team have assessed the water levels and we still have lower water levels at Lock 8.
Lock 8 will remain closed today to replenish the water levels and will be assessed again tomorrow.
Update on 18/09/2023:
The water levels are still too low to reopen this section today.
The pump at Lock 16 shall be switched on today and cleaning of the cillls at Lock 8 by the local team to assist with the replenishing of the water levels
The team will assess the water levels tomorrow morning and we will update the notice when the water levels have recovered enough to reopen the section of canal.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12noon Sunday 17 September 2023 until further notice)
The Rochdale Canal is now closed from Lock 14 to Lock 8, Mayroyd.
The reason for the closure is due to low water levels following the recovery of a boat stuck in a lock yesterday.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
The pounds are expected to return to normal in the next day or so. Updates will be provided.
