Lock 45 – Birstall Lock
Update on 24/07/2023:
Our maintenance team has completed the works at Birstall Lock and successfully carried out the required repairs. Boaters can now proceed through Birstall Lock as normal.
Update on 21/07/2023:
We appreciate that there are a small number of boaters currently stuck between the unplanned emergency closures of Kilby Lock and Birstall Lock.
If any of the affected boats require water, there is a water point at Friar’s Mill visitor moorings that can be used.
Update on 19/07/2023:
Our maintenance team will be on site tomorrow to remove the top gate and begin work on the required repairs.
They aim to complete the works by Tuesday 25th July, and we will update the website accordingly.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (Monday 17 July 2023 until further notice)
Due to damage of the top gate at Birstall lock 45, on the River Soar, the navigation is closed at this lock.
Our engineers will arrange a site visit to assess the damage and plan in the necessary repairs.
We will update the website on Tuesday 18th July with further information following the visit of our engineers.
