Contractors working on behalf of Network Rail are undertaking a visual and tactile inspection of Broad Street Tunnel and of the boundary wall along the towpath between Broad Street Tunnel and Mill Street Bridge.
A pontoon with a tower scaffold tower on will be installed in the water to facilitate the inspection of the tunnel. The canal will remain open and the pontoon will be moved manually with ropes to allow boat traffic when required. A ladder will be used to inspect the boundary wall along the towpath Signage and banksmen will be utilised to manage pedestrians and boaters.
