We have been given permission to open navigation again. Please follow any instructions given by Police in attendance.

The police have advised we should hopefully be able to re-open navigation at around mid-afternoon.
We will update the notice as soon as we receive a further update from them.

The southern towpath on Sheepcote Street is open. Please follow police instructions.
Navigation remains closed until further notice.
Update on 08/11/2023:
The police have informed us divers will be going into the canal to retrieve evidence. The divers are coming over from Nottingham so the canal & towpath could potentially stay closed for the rest of the day.
We will post further updates as soon as we receive them.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8.30am Wednesday 8 November 2023 until further notice)
Police have had to close the canal and towpath outside outside St Vincent Street on the New Mainline.
