TOWPATH CLOSURE (3pm Thursday 15 December until 5pm Friday 23 December 2022)
Please be advised that third-party contractors will be onsite between Lock1, Top Lock and Lock 2, Bottom Lock on the Leigh Branch (Leeds and Liverpool Canal)
The third-party contractors are working for Electricity North West and will be excavating for a cable under the towpath to carry out a repair.
The towpath will be closed and a diversion route put in place. Boaters to re-board when leaving locks 1 and 2 or follow the diversion route.
Whilst the navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution.
Please take note of the signage and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third party contractors onsite.
