Update on 27/10/2022:
We are pleased to advise the vehicle has been recovered from the water at Bridge 71, Winmarleigh Bridge on the Lancaster Canal and our teams have removed the loose masonry from the bridge and surrounding area.
Whilst navigation and towpath access has now resumed, please proceed through the area with care.
Our contractors will be back onsite next week to start the repairs to the bridge, of which notice will be provided should further closures be required.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Thursday 27 October 2022 until further notice)
Please be advised navigation and towpath access is closed at Bridge 71, Winmarleigh Bridge on the Lancaster Canal due to a vehicle in the water.
The local team have placed booms around the vehicle to prevent pollution and are now working with the local authorities. An update will be provided this afternoon.
