Possible Short Notice Suspension of Lockage Activities – 8 – 16 August 2023
Starts At: Lock 15, Osier Bed Lock
Ends At: Lock 16
ADVICE (Tuesday 8 August until Wednesday 16 August 2023)
We are working closely with Network Rail who are replacing a culvert just south of Aylesbury Basin. The culvert takes a local brook underneath the railway, that runs between Aylesbury and London. Surplus water from the basin currently flows into the brook and through the culvert that is being replaced. Network Rail have asked the Trust for assistance in managing water flows from the basin and through the culvert whilst the works are being undertaken. Therefore, there is a possibility that lockage activities at Locks 15 and 16 may be suspended at short notice for up to an hour should there be a likelihood of heavy storms in the area. Should this be the case then Network Rail staff will be present at the locks to advise boaters accordingly.
During this period you may also see Network Rail staff on the towpath and the vicinity of locks 15 and 16 during the day and night. This presence has been agreed with the Trust to allow Network Rail to monitor water levels while the culvert works are underway
