Step back in time along London’s waterways

LONDON’S canals and rivers will take centre stage over the coming months as the IWA Towpath Walks Society unveils its full programme of guided walks through to November.

The programme offers people the chance to explore centuries of hidden history along some of the capital’s most characterful waterways.

July 7: Starts at 6pm, following the Regent’s Canal from King’s Cross to Granary Square and St Pancras.

July 19: Regent’s Canal: Mile End-Limehouse from 2.30pm.

August 2: Regent’s Canal: King’s Cross to London Canal Museum. A circular tour including  a visit to the museum, 2.30pm start.

August 30: Regent’s Canal: Islington- Kingsland Road, starts 2.30pm.

September 6: Regent’s Canal: King’s Cross-Granary Square-St Pancras, starts 2.30pm.

September 20: Four Hundred Years of the New River at Manor House (Finsbury Park exit 6), starts 2.30pm.

October 3: The Secrets of the Northern Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park walk begins at 10.45am.

October 18: Regent’s Canal: King’s Cross-Granary Square-Camden, starts 2.30pm.

November 1: Regent’s Canal: R.Tyburn-Little Venice, starts 2.30pm.

November 15: Grosvenor Canal and Battersea Power Station, starts 2.30pm.

Walks are priced at £20, with concessions of £15 for seniors aged 65 and over, students, and accompanied children aged 16 and over. Children aged eight to 15 pay £5, while those under the age of eight may join free if accompanied by parents. A Walkabout Card, costing £5, offers a £5 discount on every other walk for six months.
