The Stafford Riverway Link (SRL) community group will host an open weekend on 16–17 May, from 10am to 5pm, inviting visitors to learn more about its restoration efforts and future plans.
The free event will take place on land off Baswich Lane in Stafford, near bridge 101 on the Staffs & Worcs Canal and opposite River Canal Rescue’s headquarters. Sponsored by River Canal Rescue (RCR), the weekend will feature food and craft stalls, drinks including beer from Titanic Brewery, live entertainment, children’s activities, trade boats and complimentary boat rides.

SRL is a charity dedicated to linking the Staffs & Worcs Canal with the rivers Penk and Sow, creating a navigable route into Stafford town centre. RCR has been a strong supporter of the project, contributing manpower, equipment, storage, administration, marketing, fundraising, and funding for signage marking the future Stafford Link.
Described as ‘a great day out’, the event is open to all, with SRL encouraging people to attend with friends and family. Nearby moorings will be available, and representatives from RCR will be on hand to answer questions.
