NAVIGATION CLOSURE (8am Monday 12 February until 4pm Thursday 29 February 2024)
After the initial investigation into this work, contractors have informed us that they need an extension of 4 days to remove the bridge, prepare the foundations and install the new bridge.
This means the start date of the closure will now be the 12 February 2024 and the completion date will be the 29 February 2024.
Due to the size of the lifting operation, we will be using a contract lift to remove Cowling bridge (191) and replacing it with a new bridge.
We have explored the option of doing this work as a restriction but unfortunately due to the nature of the works, involving heavy lifting and large cranage, we need to do a canal closure to ensure the safety of customers and those working on site.
