Subsidence on the towpath
Starts At: Bridge 2, Mearclough
Ends At: Pipe Crossing – Chain Bridge
TOWPATH CLOSURE (Monday 22 May 2023 until further notice)
A towpath closure has been put in place for this area of the canal. This is due to subsidence in the ground causing a hole to appear in the surface. We are expecting an engineer tomorrow morning to inspect this and we will update all accordingly. The Towpath is closed but the navigation remains open for all boating traffic.
