We are pleased to advise the incident has been resolved, and booms removed from the canal.
Navigation can now resume between Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (12.30pm Thursday 23 February 2023 until further notice)
Please be advised navigation is currently closed between Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a fire incident on third party adjacent land.
A boom has been placed in the canal to capture any pollution and further water testing is being carried out today.
To ensure the safety of our customers, padlocks have been placed on Lock 57, Bottom Lock and Lock 52, Top Lock to prevent access on to the Blackburn flight.
A further update will be provided tomorrow, Friday 24 February.
