Please be advised that the towpath is now open. However, contractors will continue to work on reinstating the back verge & sets to the rear of the towpath. Fencing will be in place to separate our customers from the ongoing works until 3rd March,
TOWPATH CLOSURE (8am Wednesday 8 February until 5pm Friday 17 February 2023)
Please be advised that third-party contractors will be onsite between Lock 1, Top Lock and Lock 2, Bottom Lock on the Leigh Branch (Leeds & Liverpool Canal).
The third party contractors are working for Electricity Northwest and will be excavating under the towpath to carry out a repair on a cable.
The towpath will remain closed and a diversion route will be in place. Boaters to re-board when leaving locks 1 and 2.
Whilst the navigation will remain open we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution.
Please take note of the signage and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third party contractors onsite.
