We apologise for the lateness of this updated. We need to extend these works at Lock 29 until 10/02/2023. This is because the condition of several gates was worse that anticipated.
Once the team had full access, it was identified that several paddles need to be changed on the gates which will require more time than planned. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Original message:
We would like to advise of this additional stoppage that we have added to our Winter Programme.
A stoppage is required to carry out the following. Works to realign and refit the top and bottom gates. There is currently significant water loss which is causing issues for our volunteer lock keepers and colleagues carrying out additional water control.
There is already a full navigation stoppage at Lock 25 covering this period, so this section of canal is already closed. We think it’s best to take this opportunity to carry out this work at the same time.
