Lock 72, Cobblers Lock
Update on 23/09/2022:
We are pleased to advise, the works have been successful and Cobblers Lock is now open to navigation.
Update on 22/09/2022:
Further to the notice below, our construction team are on site today hoping to get the gate removed.
Once removed we will assess the damage and hope to rectify the problem.
If all goes to plan and we don’t find anything onerous, we hope to have the gate back in and the lock operational by the end of play tomorrow.
We will update this notice tomorrow afternoon.
Update on 13/09/2022:
Please be advised that further to the notice below, Engineers have now carried out a dewatered inspection of the gate.This has unfortunately identified damage below water level. As a result of this it is not possible to reopen the lock until this is repaired. The repair will be far more significant than initial observation suggested and is being progressed by our engineering team. We will update this notice by Thursday the 22nd of September.
Update on 08/09/2022:
Further to the notice below and a further site visit today, we are pleased to advise that we have devised a repair and hope that, subject to testing and inspection on completion, the lock will reopen on Wednesday 14th September.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (4.45pm Wednesday 7 September 2022 until further notice)
We are sorry to advise that the downstream lock gate at Cobblers lock has sustained damage.
Unfortunately, this means that the lock is currently inoperable.
Our Engineers will be on site tomorrow morning to assess the damage.
We will update this notice with further information on Friday 9th Sept.
