Update on 22/08/2022:
Our local team have been working hard and we have successfully managed to get the car out of the navigation. Boaters can now travel along this section as normal.
Update on 21/08/2022:
Apologies for the ongoing navigational closure, we are currently liaising with Leicestershire Police and waiting for an update from the company who will be lifting the vehicle.
Trust Engineers and Operational staff will be on site Monday morning to see if anything can be done to improve the situation before contractors can safely remove the vehicle.
Update on 20/08/2022:
A car is in the water at the lock approach, a specialist removal company is making arrangements to lift the vehicle. The navigation remains closed until the hazard has been safely removed after the weekend.
The towpath is open.
NAVIGATION CLOSURE (3am Saturday 20 August 2022 until further notice)
The navigation is closed due to an ongoing Police Incident. The Lock chamber requires assessment in daylight hours before further update can be given.
