WORK continues to rebuild the Macclesfield Canal on the Palmerston Embankment at Bollington on a bright winter’s day.
There has been an ongoing problem with water leakage from the canal alongside the Clarence Mill in Cheshire for a number of years.
As part of the winter 2019-20 maintenance programme the Canal & River Trust has employed contractors Kier to undertake a major rebuilding and relining of the canal here.The work is budgeted to cost £1.2 million.
The canal has been drained and work is underway to put in place new concrete was walls and a reinforced concrete bed to the canal.
It is expected to reopen in March.
