A short series of socially distanced cruises have been announced by the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterways Trust to see in the summer on the John Bunyan boat!
The season starts on Bank Holiday Monday May 31, with four 45-minute cruises running from Sovereigns Quay cruising along the Embankment. It’s the perfect way to try the John Bunyan Boat for the first time, and great for families with young children.
To comply with social distancing guidelines, capacity will be restricted to 12 passengers.
Departures will be from Sovereigns Quay at 10:45 am, noon, 1:45 pm and 3 pm. Boarding the John Bunyan will take place 15 min before the advertised times.
Tickets are priced: Adult £6, concession £5, child £4 per person and family ticket £14 (two adults and two children under sixteen). It is advisable to book in advance as these cruises are very popular during the Bank Holidays and sell out very quickly.
Sovereigns Quay is next to the Star Rowing Club, close to the Riverside Bedford leisure complex.
During June, two-hour afternoon cruises will run on Thursdays and Sundays from Sovereigns Quay. Due to social distancing, passenger numbers will again be restricted to 12, which means bookings can only be accepted for tables of two or four people.
Prices are £26 for a table for two or £52 for a table of four. Cream teas are available to order in advance with your ticket and as an extra treat, on cruises running during this year’s #fiverfest (June 12-26), you can select a cream tea for just £5.
