THE Canal & River Trust, is asking for visitors to share their favourite pictures of the famous Caen Hill Lock flight on the Kennet & Avon Canal as part of a photo competition to ‘Share the Love’ for this popular canal.
The competition is looking for striking and beautiful pictures of the locks at Caen Hill which is a popular stopping and photo point for the thousands of boaters and people who visit the waterways every year.
The winning photo of this free to enter competition will have their picture made into a postcard which visitors can pick up from the visitor boat Admiral, which is moored at the top of the locks next to the Canal & River Trust offices in Devizes near lock 44. The competition is open all ages and to anyone who has a keen eye for a good photo and has a love for the waterways.
Caroline Robson, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “The locks at Caen Hill are really popular for visitors wanting to enjoy a quiet stroll or bike ride and for boaters feeling brave enough to tackle the flight of 16 locks.
“There must be thousands of lovely pictures of Caen Hill stored on phones, cameras and home PCs and we want you to share them with us. If you’ve taken a good one, or plan to take some pictures when you next visit, then please share them with us – you never know, your design could be made into our very first souvenir postcard.”
To take part please take your photos along to the boat Admiral between February 10-18. The pictures will be on display each weekend from February 18 February to March 31 with the winner voted for by the visitors to the boat. The photos can highlight any of the seasons along the canal. The winning design will be announced on April 15.
