BOYD Tunnock, chairman of the company which makes the well-known Tunnocks Teacakes, Caramel Logs and Wafers, has been awarded with a Lifetime Commitment Award by the RYA Scotland. And, he says, it takes the biscuit!

Eighty-five year-old Boyd, has been sailing since 1962 and Tunnocks has been generous in supporting events such as the Scottish Series and West Highland Week, both with sponsorship and supplies of its products which are made at its Uddingston factory and sold all over the world.

Clyde Cruising Club commodore, John Readman said: “There is no finer example of a supporter of sailing in Scotland than our honorary member, Boyd Tunnock.”

Boyd Tunnock said: “I’m honoured to receive this award from the RYA. I still enjoy sailing and it’s been a pleasure to support the association and particular events, as well as RNLI stations around the coast both personally and though the company and our products. I have received many awards at this time in my life, but this one definitely takes the biscuit!”
