Halesworth New Reach exhibition

THE Halesworth New Reach Group is holding an exhibition upstairs at Halesworth Library fromMonday April 29 to Saturday May 6 during usual library opening times.

It is hoped to show the current situation on the New Reach and how the waterway could look in the future when fully restored. The group will also outline its plans to the improve the canal in the short term.

Please visit the exhibition if you can and tell the group what you think. It would like to hear your views.

For instance, do you think the restoration is a good idea? Would you like to see more amenity use – boating, canoeing – on the canal? Would you like to see more open water? Would you like better access, less litter, more benches? Please take the time to
complete our brief questionnaire and let us have your comments.

The group has a vision for the future of the New Reach but its plans need local agreement and support. It believes that the waterway could be an important visitor attraction but it will take time and effort to create.

And ultimately anything should benefit the local community and make Halesworth an even better place to live.
