Update on 02/03/2022:

The dam has now been removed and the locks are available for navigation.

Update on 28/02/2022:

Repairs to the blown ground paddle have now been completed and we have requested removal of the dam.

Update on 18/02/2022:

A dam is scheduled to be installed on Tuesday 22nd February 2022. Passage through the locks will be unavailable until the repairs have been completed.

An update will be posted on Friday 25th February 2022, once the team have had the opportunity to assess the full extent of the damage and plan the required repairs. We should be in a position to advise on a timescale for the repair at this point.

Update on 09/02/2022:

The Operations team has managed to stem the leak and block off the ground paddle, however further works are required to fully repair the paddle.

We anticipate that a dam to be installed late next week to enable the team to fully assess the damage and design a suitable solution to repair.

A further update will be posted on Friday 18th February 2022.

If passage is required please contact our Customer Service team on 03030 404040 to discuss between the hours of 09:00 and 16:30 Monday to Friday. Please note that passage will only be possible before the dam is installed and we will require at least 48 hours notice.

NAVIGATION CLOSURE (2pm Monday 7 February 2022 until further notice)

Newlay Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal are currently closed and unavailable to navigation traffic due to a blown ground paddle on the top lock.

A dam will be installed to investigate the issue further and assist with planning the required repairs.
