Lock 40 East – operational on one head paddle
Update on 23/03/2022:
The water level has recovered overnight so it is navigable.
However, the lock is still only operating on one head paddle and we have chained the non operating side head paddle up.
ADVICE (12.30pm Tuesday 22 March 2022 until further notice)
Overnight the pound at Lock 40 East had been drained and we have discovered that one of the cheek paddles has become detached from the wall and we have chained up this head paddle so it is not to be used.
The lock is only operating on one head paddle while we are in the process of acquiring the parts to fix the broken head paddle.
There is currently no water in the pound but the team are starting to refill the pound,.We are hoping that it will have refilled overnight.
This notice will be updated when we receive any further information.
