PROJECT days in February focused on clearing a large area of overgrown vegetation at Wool Road car park to reveal the little known bench area nestled in the corner there.
Work included removing ivy from the walled area which had over the decades become very densely overgrown, and bringing some much needed space and light to the trees here.
To deal with all the collected debris, UCAN had the much appreciated help of a wood chipper machine kindly provided by the Canal & River Trust.
As a result of UCAN’s efforts at Wool Road, the view from the towpath is now much clearer, providing better access to the nearby fishing spots and for passers-by to see and enjoy a quiet bench break.
For anyone interested in joining future project days, the programme is as follows :-
March Saturday 25th
April Tuesday 4th
May Saturday 6th
June Saturday 3rd
The usual meeting point is 10am at Limekiln lock, but this is sometimes changed. New volunteers are advised to check a few days in advance, with the Project Day calendar at http://ucanuppermill.com/. You may also contact UCAN’s Group Leader on 01457 878361, or by e-mail at email@example.com.
