Spring flowers under the Limekiln Viaduct

WITH Spring well and truly under way, the Uppermill Community Association (UCAN) activities have been focused on weeding and further tidying of the area where it planted wild flowers last autumn under the Limekiln Viaduct and Wade Lock now that reparation work there has been completed.

Members were very pleased to see the flowers blooming excellently, a welcome splash of colour for the time of year to brighten up these areas of the towpath. It is planned to do further landscaping work on the land space under Limekiln Viaduct through spring and summer, to create a scenic spot for everyone to enjoy.

To further publicise the group and welcome new members, UCAN took part in the annual Saddleworth Community Volunteering Event at the Civic Hall in April. The event was an opportunity to provide information to the local community on UCAN and showcase its activities.
