Taking on the mantle

Published: 11:12AM May 26th, 2011

I WONDER if your readers could help me locate a supplier of a particular old gas mantle.

It’s a Veritas Alpha Inverted mantle G3769, universal fitting – or the same type by another manufacturer.

Although not a boater, I subscribe to Towpath Talk and over 40 years ago spent many weekends on Elk, a converted narrowboat run at that time by Manchester YMCA. I believe it’s still afloat, though now in private hands.
